Singular Swift rigid 29er Mountain Bike
After trying out Kenny's lovely Singular Peregrine at SSUK08,
I decided to get one. Singular Sam had a little sale on Swifts
at the time over at singularcycles.com
so I took advantage. It's the smallest size available which
fits me perfectly. It's a fast and confidence-inspiring ride
that's really versatile.
- Singular Swift medium frame (the smallest!)
- On-One Midge bars (but see below...)
- Planet-X 29er wheels
- XT stuff
- Dura-Ace 9-sp bar-end shifters
- Chris King headset. Well you know....
- Brooks Swift saddle.
- Crank Brothers Egg Beaters
- Avid BB5 cable disc brakes
- Salsa Gel bartape + Cinelli Gel pads.
- System-Ex shiny silver seatpost
- Continental Vapor tyres
There's been a few builds of this so far. The main thing
that's been changing is the bars, although I've also changed
from full Shimano 105 to XT. The 105 came off the cyclocross
bike I sold to fund this, and it had a couple of issues on
this bike - first the cranks had only just clearance of the
chainstays, and second the brake levers couldn't pull the Avid
BB5 brakes hard enough. That's a pity because the
"all-in-one" STI levers are just great.
Also the Kenda Small Block 8 tyres have been changed for
Vapors. Both tyres are marked 2.1" width but the Vapors
are much narrower.
So, here it is in a few different guises:
Salsa Bell Lap bars, Shimano 105 chainset and levers. Pentland
hills, Edinburgh.
Easton EA70 silver flat bar. Arthur's Seat, Edinburgh. On the
way to work.
On-One Fleegle bar. John Muir Country Park.
And this is how it is today. Midge bars at Presmennan
Here's a cockpit view of the Midge bars and Dura-Ace
levers.
