Cycling in the Lammermuir Hills
The Lammermuirs are on my doorstep, and are crossed by tracks
many of which are old trade routes. The Scottish Rights of Way
and Access Society has done a fantastic job of waymarking
these rights of way, and coupled with the Southern Upland Way
we have a really accessible but still challenging area
stretching from Dunbar in the North East to Lauder in the
South West.
Tracklogs
I use a Garmin Geko 201 GPS and Tracklogs software for
planning, guiding and recording rides. Here are some
tracklogs. I think these are probably only useful if you use
Tracklogs software, maybe other mapping software can read
them.
- Spott-Halls-Whiteadder Loop
- This one's the usual ride. About 4 hours in all. Some
stiff climbing throughout on grassy sheep moor. Can be very
windy, be cautious with the weather.
- Spott-Lauder Herring Road
- This is a planned route we've not done yet. It'll be a
full day at least. Maybe we should stop over in Lauder.
returns by Southern Upland Way.
