1. Gparted Live CD

There's loads of ways to partition a hard drive. But, when you're dealing with several filesystems the GNU Parted Live CD is fantastic. Download the ISO, burn to CD (you can ask Google how to do that...) and boot from the CD. You'll get a nice Gparted GUI where you should setup the MBR partition table as above. You'll need to resize the XP NTFS Partition first, then create the other partitions. DO NOT FORMAT THE NTFS PARTITION! OK? Good. Or you'll lose your XP stuff. Which you have of course backed-up, right? Good. Off you go then.

Give the partitions sensible names - those names will eventually be what you see on your OS selection menu at boot-up. So, maybe 'MACOSX', 'LINUX', 'SHARED' might be good choices... It's up to you, they're just names.
